Random Comment Picker for Instagram: How It Works and How to Use It
A random comment picker for Instagram reads the comments on a public post or Reel, turns each commenting account into one entry and draws a random winner. You only need the post link; no Instagram login is involved.

What does a random comment picker do?
A random comment picker replaces scrolling and guessing. Instead of choosing a comment by eye, which is slow and easy to question, it collects the comments, makes a list of eligible entrants and picks from that list at random.
How does it work, step by step?
A random comment picker turns a post link into a winner in five steps, all of them automatic.
- Resolve the link. The picker reads the post's ID from the link you paste: /p/ for posts, /reel/ for Reels.
- Read the comments. It fetches the public comments on that post, the same ones anyone can see.
- Build the pool. Each commenting account becomes one entry, however many times it commented.
- Draw. A cryptographic random number generator picks a position in the pool. For several winners, each drawn account is removed before the next pick.
- Show the result. You see the winning accounts, in the order they were drawn.
Which Instagram content does it work on?
The picker works on any public Instagram content that has a comment section: feed posts, carousels and Reels.
| Content | Works? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Feed post (photo) | Yes | Paste the /p/ link |
| Carousel post | Yes | Comments are shared across all slides |
| Reel | Yes | Paste the /reel/ link |
| Post on a private account | No | Make the account public for the draw |
| Story replies or DMs | No | Paste the names into the random name picker |
| Live video comments | No | Collect entrants as a list instead |
How do you use GiveawayPicker as an Instagram comment picker?
Using GiveawayPicker as an Instagram comment picker takes four steps and no account.
- In the Instagram app, tap the three dots on the post and choose Copy link.
- Paste the link into the Instagram giveaway picker and check the post preview.
- Choose one to five winners.
- Press draw and record your screen while it runs.
One draw a day is free. The free draw reads the most recent comments on the post; a subscription gives unlimited draws and reads every comment.
Can it pick from more than one platform?
Yes. The same draw runs on Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. If you are not sure which page to open, the random comment picker recognises the platform from whatever link you paste.
What doesn't it do?
A random comment picker only reads public comments and draws from them; it doesn't do anything that would need your account.
- It doesn't log in to Instagram or ask for your password.
- It doesn't check follows, likes or the number of tagged friends; check those on the winner.
- It doesn't rank or weight entrants; every account has the same chance.
- It doesn't store the comments it reads.
Frequently asked questions
How do I randomly pick a comment on Instagram?
Copy the link to your public Instagram post or Reel, paste it into a random comment picker such as GiveawayPicker, choose how many winners you need and press draw. No Instagram login is needed.
Does the Instagram comment picker include replies to comments?
Treat the pool as the post's comments and ask entrants to comment directly on the post rather than replying to other comments. Saying this in your rules avoids arguments about which entries counted.
Can I use a random comment picker on Instagram Reels?
Yes. Paste the Reel link, which contains /reel/, and the picker draws from the Reel's comments the same way it does for a feed post.
Can I pick a random comment from an Instagram Story?
No. Story replies arrive as private messages, not public comments. Copy the names of the people who replied into a random name picker and draw from that list.
Is the Instagram random comment picker free?
Yes. GiveawayPicker gives one free draw a day with up to five winners, no signup and no Instagram login. A subscription adds unlimited draws and reads every comment on large posts.
